Hobbies and Interests
In my free time I...
Uni and Post-Uni Life
Throughout my university degree and beyond, I have been continually pushing myself personally to achieve more. I have a variety of different hobbies and interests which I have listed below beside some images. I hope you find this interesting.
Travelling
One of my greatest desires is to travel and explore the world and different cultures. Having lived abroad in Holland for 11 years as a child, I was fortunate that I grew up attending an international school and worked/became friends with students from a variety of different cultures. Since returning back from Holland to England, I have continued to explore new cultures by travelling both through work and on holiday. On my most recent trip I visited Japan to explore from Tokyo to Hiroshima for roughly two weeks. Some pictures of my travels are below with a description of each when you click on them.

Artwork
Since a young age I have always enjoyed creating - either in an engineering sense (problem solving) or an artistic sense (creating artwork). I enjoy sketching and painting and have created many models and drawings while growing up. My artwork really developed once I entered a virtual environment and began creating 3D models/digital artwork. I've experimented with a variety of work including 3D environments, pixel art and digital drawings.
Fitness and Sports
While I was completing my placement year I was an active member at the gym. I continued going to the gym while in Loughborough in my final year and still continue to go today while working for NI. During my second year at university I was a member of Loughborough's kayaking club (and played kayaking water polo). Currently I play football regularly with my colleagues at National Instruments.
Programme Representative (rep) and Deputy School President
During my final year at University I was elected as programme rep for my course by my fellow students. As a programme rep I was responsible for communicating between students and their teachers. I responded to student problems and organized events. I enjoyed the role as it gave me an opportunity to develop my communication skills, whilst also seeing how Loughborough University worked as an institution. I was also voted as Deputy School President. I was responsible for collecting feedback from a team of programme reps and ensuring their problems were solved.
Hiking
As part of travelling, I enjoy hiking/walking trips to different parts of the UK. Hiking gives me an opportunity to explore new areas while also improving my fitness and stamina. I enjoy setting myself goals and pushing myself to reach them - for example in 2016 I walked Hadrian's wall in 6 days. My journey started in Nottingham and finished by the sea near Carlisle.
I have also completed a gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the north of Wales and plan to complete the 3 peaks challenge sometime this year. It is also my hope to complete some walking challenges abroad.
