Launching a New Product
Creating a New Airsoft Greande
2016-2017
For this final year project I created a new product and launched it under an existing company's portfolio. It involved both developing a new product and considering how to launch it within the market.
The images below show aspects of the project including portfolio analysis, market analysis and customer analysis. I chose to design an airsoft grenade which prioritizes safety and considers the needs of regular players.

I developed a grenade which marked users with coloured powder. This prevents cheating as users cannot lie about not being hit. Unlike projectile based grenades, it is safe enough to use in Europe. The powder is expelled using gas, which is already used in most airsoft rifles. It also spins the grenade when thrown. The name of the grenade, Sandstorm, was inspired by Airsoft Innovations. This is the existing company whose portfolio I am extending.

Here is artwork showing the development of the grenade. The hollow interior stores the powder. The grenade is primed when the handle is removed. Upon impact the gas launches and spins the grenade. The gas also dislodges the powder and marks nearby players.

This image shows market research conducted when I went to play airsoft at Anzio Airsoft Center.
