Banner Design
Designing a Website Banner
10/2018
While working at National Instruments I purchased a Photoshop licence to continue developing my graphical design skills. I was asked by a NI colleague to design a headline banner for a project she developed. I was given an image and experimented with the various ways I could create a banner.
Concepts
These designs were explorations of the different types of banners I could create. I decided to follow National Instrument's existing marketing material and used geometric and angular shapes. I also experimented with translucent objects, drop shadows and basic colour schemes. NI colours were used.

Development
Once a final design was chosen, I experimented with various colours. All my designs followed a simple colour scheme consisting of: one highlight colour, 1 darker variant of the highlight colour and a white background. The lighter and darker highlight colours creates the illusion that the banner divider is a ribbon being folded on itself.

Final Presentation to the Customer
I presented my final design with 2 variants. One with a colour image and one with a greyscale image. The colour image was chosen as the final design.
